Fall Festival Help Schedule
Happy Birthday Ashley and Alfredo.
We are back from Outdoor School. It looks like the 5th graders had a great time with Ms. Mathis. The 6th graders and I had one of the best Outdoor Schools ever.
Don't forget that we are leaving at 2:00 on Sunday for Outdoor School. Ms. Mathis (Jackie) will be the sub for 5th grade.
The Home and School moms are putting together a photo book for the auction. They need pictures of your students doing sporty type things. It could be anything from basketball to chasing frogs--something active or athletic please. Ask your student about this. They should know what I am e3x
Art Assignment - "Object Design"
We will begin working on this assignment next week. It seems that we were a little short on time today.
Below are some pictures of what we have been working on in Social Studies.
This is your new blog post. Click here and start typing, or drag in elements from the top bar.
So far I am just experimenting with this blog. I can see a few things of value for us as a class. It could be a good way to communicate with you, for example, or just a method of keeping a record or a history of the year. Whatever the case, I am going to blog away for a while. If you find something valuable here, let me know. If you can think of other ways to add value or practicality to the site, let me know.
Please send pictures of your kids. (see "Tuesdays are Terrific")
6th Grade Outdoor school is coming up. Please note that Tegan's mom bought each student rain gear. If you haven't already purchased some of your own, you may claim a pair from me.
Below is a picture of our day.
First it should be said that the 5th and 6th grade girls have finished up the day by winning their second straight volleyball match. Go rockets.
Things to be ready for tomorrow? Be ready for a memory verse quiz--Deuteronomy 30:20. Also, finish the Math assignment on Area and Perimeter: p.64 - 5th #6-15, 21-22, 31, 33-38 - 6th #6-16, 19-22, 27, 31, 33-38. Finally, students should be working on a quiz in Social Studies. They can use the book to help answer the questions.
In Science class we learned about collecting data. Students worked on a shoe lab. They collected data about shoe color and graphed the results. We will discuss our findings tomorrow.
The topic of the day in Language Arts was pronouns. Everyone was very excited. No really.
Words of the day: graph, chart, data, antecedent, area (A=l*w), and perimeter (P=2l + 2w).
By the way, students are supposed to bring in photos (digital if you have them) of themselves doing sporty type things. This is for an auction project. Pictures can be of anything physical—soccer, volleyball, horseback riding, motorcycling, and running around having fun. If you have a great picture that is not digital, I will happily scan it and return it to you. You can deliver digital photos by email, USB drive, CD, or on the camera. Thanks for your help.
6th Grade Outdoor School is coming soon—this Sunday. Give me a call or email if you have questions.
